A living moss wall panel in a slim walnut and brass frame, lit by a single museum spotlight against a charcoal gallery wall

AI-Engineered Living Architecture

Don’t Preserve Nature.Keep It Alive.

A living moss wall, engineered like an instrument. Real moss, never preserved. Continuous moisture sensing. Irrigation that runs when the wall calls for it, and not a moment before.

The Distinction

Two materials that photograph alike and behave nothing alike.

Most of what is sold as a moss wall is preserved: beautiful, stable, and biologically finished. We build the other thing. Knowing which one is on your wall is the whole decision.

The Convention

Preserved Moss

Harvested, then treated and stabilised so it holds its colour indefinitely. It asks for nothing and it does precisely what it was made to do: stay exactly as it is. Honest decorative material, well suited to the many rooms that want the look and nothing more.

The Carbon Halo Position

Living Moss

Cultivated, installed alive, and kept that way by a system that reads the panel continuously. It photosynthesises. It thickens across seasons and shifts tone with the light it is given. It is not finished on the day it is installed, and that is the entire point.

The Instrument

Six layers. Each one doing exactly one job.

Nothing in the build-up is decorative. Select a layer to open it.

The Control Loop

Water is a decision, not a schedule.

Timed irrigation waters a calendar. Carbon Halo waters a reading. The difference is the difference between a plant that survives and one that establishes.

  1. 01

    Sense

Probes read the moisture profile of the substrate continuously, across the panel rather than at a single point.

  2. 02

    Evaluate

The controller compares the reading against the cultivation window for the species on the panel, and against the trend of the last several hours.

  3. 03

    Deliver

When the profile falls below the window, the emitter grid opens for a measured volume. Not a schedule. Not a fixed dose.

  4. 04

    Confirm

Sensing continues through delivery and closes the loop the moment the profile returns. Over-watering is a control failure, so the control never assumes.

The Interface

The wall reports on itself.

Optional digital monitoring turns the installation into something you can read at a glance: what it has, what it needs, and when it last acted.

The Biology

It is alive, so it behaves like something alive.

Moss photosynthesises. Given suitable light, humidity and water, it takes in carbon dioxide and releases oxygen, building its own tissue out of what it absorbs. That is the mechanism, stated plainly.

  1. CO₂

    Taken in

Carbon dioxide from the surrounding air

  2. Moss

    Photosynthesis

Light and water drive the conversion

  3. O₂

    Released

Oxygen, plus tissue the moss builds from what it absorbs

What we will not claim

Carbon Halo is not an air purifier, and we publish no figure for carbon dioxide removed per panel. Real impact depends on the species installed, the surface area, the light the wall receives and the conditions of the room. An honest number cannot be printed on a brochure, only measured in your space. We would rather be precise than impressive.

Why Carbon Halo

Six reasons, and no others.

We build one product. These are the properties it actually has.

01

Living

Real moss, cultivated and kept alive. Not treated, not dyed, not decorative botany.

02

AI-Intelligent

Continuous moisture sensing decides when the system waters, and how much. Nothing runs on a timer.

03

Low Maintenance

No trimming, no feeding schedule, no daily attention. Refill the reservoir when the panel asks.

04

Modular

Panels register to one another. A wall can begin at one and extend without a visible seam.

05

Natural

Moss, jute, hardwood, water. The material list is short because every material is load-bearing.

06

Architectural

Machined tolerances, a flat face, a true edge. It is specified like joinery, not hung like art.

Editions

Three sizes. One standard.

Each panel is hand-finished in a limited batch. We hold production to what the atelier can finish properly in a quarter, which is fewer than the demand.

Applications

Specified for spaces of distinction.

The installation suits rooms where the material palette was decided with care, and where something alive earns more attention than something merely applied.

The Vision

We are not trying to make a building green. We are trying to make one surface of it genuinely alive, and then hold it there with enough precision that nobody has to think about it again.

Living architecture has been an idea for a long time. What was missing was never ambition. It was discipline: the sensing, the restraint, and the willingness to water a reading rather than a calendar. That is the part we build, and it is the part that decides whether a wall establishes or slowly gives up.

We make no claim about what this does to a city, or to a carbon ledger. We make one claim, and we hold to it: the moss on your wall will be alive, it will be looked after by a system that pays attention, and it will be finished by hand. One wall at a time, in batches small enough to finish properly.
