The Distinction
Most of what is sold as a moss wall is preserved: beautiful, stable, and biologically finished. We build the other thing. Knowing which one is on your wall is the whole decision.
The Convention
Harvested, then treated and stabilised so it holds its colour indefinitely. It asks for nothing and it does precisely what it was made to do: stay exactly as it is. Honest decorative material, well suited to the many rooms that want the look and nothing more.
The Carbon Halo Position
Cultivated, installed alive, and kept that way by a system that reads the panel continuously. It photosynthesises. It thickens across seasons and shifts tone with the light it is given. It is not finished on the day it is installed, and that is the entire point.

Cultivated cushion moss, alive at the moment it leaves the atelier and alive on your wall. Never dyed, never chemically treated. It responds to light and humidity, thickens over seasons, and shifts tone as it grows.
The Control Loop
Timed irrigation waters a calendar. Carbon Halo waters a reading. The difference is the difference between a plant that survives and one that establishes.
Probes read the moisture profile of the substrate continuously, across the panel rather than at a single point.
The controller compares the reading against the cultivation window for the species on the panel, and against the trend of the last several hours.
When the profile falls below the window, the emitter grid opens for a measured volume. Not a schedule. Not a fixed dose.
Sensing continues through delivery and closes the loop the moment the profile returns. Over-watering is a control failure, so the control never assumes.

The Biology
Moss photosynthesises. Given suitable light, humidity and water, it takes in carbon dioxide and releases oxygen, building its own tissue out of what it absorbs. That is the mechanism, stated plainly.

What we will not claim
Carbon Halo is not an air purifier, and we publish no figure for carbon dioxide removed per panel. Real impact depends on the species installed, the surface area, the light the wall receives and the conditions of the room. An honest number cannot be printed on a brochure, only measured in your space. We would rather be precise than impressive.
